Concept Design

The arena structure will be built on what is currently “fazendinha.” Functionality is given to all of the spaces, they can work together as a unit, separately, or within one another and for each other. A large green area connects each space and creates an enjoyable outdoor area.

The parking structures create a negative “left over” space that utilizes a retractable cover system to create an entirely new space. The negative spaces in the parking structure contribute to the design by creating opportunities for lighting effects and LED displays for advertisements.

The court arrangements are designed to accommodate all forms of indoor sports from basketball to indoor soccer, or volleyball to concerts. The arena is designed to change the pitch of the seating depending on the type of show or spot. A clerestory roof design allows the natural sunlight to flow into the building, dramatically reducing energy costs. At night it becomes a beacon for the area.
