RM Plus, an architecture, master planning, and interior design firm, decided it was time to create its own office space, one that reflects its brand. The company decided to lease space in Maitland Promenade 1 - the first building in Central Florida to earn LEED EB Gold. To meet the sustainability requirements, the design for the space incorporated materials with recycled content, low- or no- VOC products, daylight and occupancy sensors, and connection to the building automation systems. The design represents the passion, excitement, and dedication that RM Plus brings to each of its projects. The bold orange and gray palette is complemented with hints of glossy white and warm woods in the furniture and built-in millwork. A feature of the space is the intricate and dynamic flooring pattern that deconstructs from vibrant orange resilient tile in the lobby to charcoal gray carpet tile in the workstation area. The new layout for the space prioritized access to daylight and views of the Orlando skyline for all employees. Even though private offices line the exterior wall, the floor to ceiling glass walls bring light into the workstation area. The workstations have low walls which create a bright, open, collaborative area. This office space showcases RM Plus’s desire to stand out and share its unique perspective on design. This space represents the company’s bold, inventive, and passionate employees and will give them a location to grow in for many years to come.

One of the main design features of the space is the intricate and dynamic flooring pattern. Our team created a pattern that deconstructs from bold orange resilient tile in the lobby to charcoal gray carpet tile, that looks like hand-drawn pencil lines in the workstation area.

Design work was completed in Sketch Up. Our team built a 3D model of the project to understand and develop the proportions of the office space. These 3-D views were also integral to the process of determining the balance of colors within the space. Once the design was bought off, we transitioned our team to Revit to develop the set of construction drawings for permit.
