Description

Design/Build

The soccer stadium was built in the 1960’s and had never been updated. For many years it was the second largest stadium in the world with seating for 110,000 spectators. Over the years as the sport changed so did the demand on the facilities and RM+ was asked to propose a solution that brought SPFC up to date with FIFA Venue requirements, offer spaces that could be split into smaller arena style spaces, and improve the overall spectator experience on the lower and mid seating rings. The proposed project is one of the largest retractable wall systems in the world. Developed with Uni-Systems and Walter P Moore Structural Engineers, the proposed solution answered all the demands made by the client.

RM Consultoria em Projetos & Participações Ltda. served as Walter P Moore's business development representative in Brazil, as well as South and Central America.
